The Navy Way (1944)

ジョー・グラス(ジェラルド・バトラー)が艦長を務めるアメリカ海軍の攻撃型原子力潜水艦ハンターキラーに、ロシア近海で行方不明になった同海軍原潜の捜索命令が下る。やがてハンターキラーは、沈没したロシア海軍の原潜を発見し、生存していた艦長を捕虜として拘束する。さらに、ロシアで極秘偵察任務にあたるネイビーシールズが、世界の命運を左右する巨大な陰謀をつかむ。それを受けてハンターキラーは、敵だらけのロシア海域に潜航する。

舞台は、1992年に起きた旧ユーゴスラビアの民族紛争が一応解決し、和平が結ばれているボスニア。米海軍大尉クリス・バーネットは、平和を維持するための軍務に意味を見出せず、レイガート司令官と衝突する。そして、本来は休暇であるクリスマスに、レイガート司令官はボスニア上空からの撮影任務を命じる。相棒のスタックハウスと共に空母カール・ビンソンから発艦したF/A-18Fは、ボスニア上空を飛行中、飛行ルートを外れた地帯にレーダー反応を探知。そちらへ向かうと地上に兵器が映り、カメラでの録画に成功する。しかし突然、地対空ミサイル(SAM)による攻撃をうけて撃ち落とされる。

退役を迎え、ハワイからアメリカ本土に最後の航海に出たアメリカ海軍戦艦「ミズーリ」。艦長のサプライズ誕生日パーティーと偽りヘリが着艦。しかしそのヘリには元CIAエージェント、ストラニクス率いるテロリスト一味が乗っていたのだ。副艦長・クリル中佐も仲間の一味で彼らを手引きしていた。クリル中佐は艦長を殺害、テロリストどもは他の乗員を船倉に監禁してしまう。彼らの目的は、艦に搭載されている核弾頭搭載トマホーク巡航ミサイルのブラックマーケットへの転売だった。 ただひとり難を逃れたのは、冷蔵庫に監禁されていたコック長のライバック兵曹のみ。しかし彼の正体は、元海軍特殊部隊「SEAL」の対テロ部隊の指揮官だった。彼は、ある作戦で部下が多数死傷し、当時の情報将校を殴打し降格処分になってしまった。それをアダムス艦長が不憫に思い、彼を自分の手元に置いてコック長という任務に就かせていたのである。 救出した同僚やケーキの中にいた女性ダンサーのジョーダン・テイトと共に、ライバックの反撃が始まる。

原潜USSモンタナは深海で何かに当たって座礁し、連絡が途絶える。海軍大尉コフィは捜索のため、海底油田基地ディープコアに、同基地の設計者であるリンジーとともに乗り込む。基地ではリンジーの夫バッドも働いていたが、夫妻の仲は冷え切っていた。見つかった原潜に生存者はいないが、リンジーはそこで奇妙な生命体を目撃。やがて嵐のせいで海上の基地とディープコアを結ぶケーブルが切れ、同基地の面々の生命に危機が迫る。
