大友克洋が製作総指揮と総監督を務めた、３話から成る劇場用オムニバス・アニメーション大作。遭難した宇宙船を舞台にした、大友の同名漫画を今敏が脚色したＳＦドラマ「彼女の想いで」。誤って実験用の薬を飲んだ男が巻き起こす一大パニックを描くブラック・コメディ「最臭兵器」。大砲を撃つための街に暮らす少年の日々を綴る大友監督作「大砲の街」。いずれもセンス・オブ・ワンダーに彩られた奇妙な味わいが特徴となっている。

『世にも奇妙な物語 秋の特別編』（よにもきみょうなものがたり あきのとくべつへん）は、2022年11月12日にフジテレビ系「土曜プレミアム」枠で放送された『世にも奇妙な物語』の特別編。

山戸結希監督が企画・プロデュースを務め、自身を含め80 年代後半〜90 年代生まれの新進映画監督、総勢15 名が集結。“自分自身のセクシャリティあるいはジェンダーがゆらいだ瞬間が映っていること”を共通のテーマとして、各監督が8 分以内の短編で表現するオムニバス作品。
