「モルグ街の殺人」「黒猫」など数々の推理小説で著名な作家エドガー・アラン・ポーの最期の日々を大胆な発想で描いたサスペンス・スリラー。ポーの著作を模倣した連続殺人事件が起きたことで、事件解明のために彼自身が捜査に加わり殺人鬼を追い詰めていく。主人公ポーには『2012』のジョン・キューザック、共演には『三銃士/王妃の首飾りとダ・ヴィンチの飛行船』のルーク・エヴァンス、『ヒットマンズ・レクイエム』のブレンダン・グリーソンらが集結。『Vフォー・ヴェンデッタ』のジェームズ・マクティーグ監督による、作品の世界観を表現した映像にも注目。
