元グリーンベレーでありベトナム戦争から帰還したジョン・ランボー。戦争は終わり、たった一人生き残った戦友を訪ねた帰り道、ふらりと田舎町に立ち寄ったが、汚らしい風来坊という見た目だけで保安官にいわれの無い嫌がらせを受け、無実でありながら不当逮捕されてしまう。保安官事務所内で静かに抵抗するランボーだったが、監禁され暴行されるうち次第に戦場でかつて経験した過酷な拷問の苦痛が蘇り警官達をあっという間に打ちのめしそのまま逃亡してしまう。追われるランボーだが逃げ込む先は彼のグラウンドである山の中。ゲリラ戦で培った戦闘技術で追跡する保安官全てを圧倒的に屈服させるが、ランボーの逃走はマスコミ、州警察、軍を巻き込み次第に大事になってゆく。

The simple story has the pair coming to the rescue of peace-loving Mormons when land-hungry Major Harriman sends his bullies to harass them into giving up their fertile valley. Trinity and Bambino manage to save the Mormons and send the bad guys packing with slapstick humor instead of excessive violence, saving the day.

R・カスダンが製作から脚本、監督まで務めた痛快娯楽ウェスタン。とある事件で出獄したばかりのエメットは、故郷シルバラードに向かう途中、仲間に身ぐるみをはがされたというペイドンと出会う。エメットの弟で正当防衛の殺人で投獄されていたジェイクを助けて逃亡し、そこへ黒人ガンマンのマルが加勢。4人は一途、シルバラードへ向かうが、しかしそこには土地独占を企てる牧場主が嫌がらせを続けており、エメットの姉夫婦も立ち退きを要求されていた。そして酒場のオーナーで町の保安官として君臨しているコッブ達の悪行に怒ったエメットは仲間と共に一味に戦いを挑む……。

舞台は1878年のニューメキシコ。タンストールの牧場には若き日のビリー・ザ・キッドと5人の若者たちがいた。80年代当時の若手スターが結集し、“ネオ西部劇”と呼ばれた、クリストファー・ケイン監督作品。
