コンピュータ・ソフトの開発者ホールは、ヴァーチャル・リアリティの技術を使ってコンピュータ内に1937年のロサンゼルスを再現しようとしていた。だが上司が何者かに殺される事件が起こり、ホールが容疑者となってしまった。アリバイが無いどころか、犯行時間の記憶自体失っているホールは、突然の事態にパニックとなる。やがて彼は、研究の過程で1937年の仮想世界と現実世界を行き来していたことを知る。その鍵を握るのは“13階”……。制作は「インデペンデンス・デイ」のローランド・エメリッヒ。
