高校のバスケット・チームを舞台に教師の苦悩と葛藤を描く感動の人間ドラマ。監督は『ネゴシエーター』のトーマス・カーター。R＆B界の歌姫・アシャンティが本作で映画デビューを飾っている。サミュエル・L・ジャクソン演じるコーチ・カーターの人間らしいキャラクターはハマリ役。
