Thalayanamanthram is a movie about the jealousies of a woman who convinces her husband to live beyond their means.
Two young adults with families on opposite ends of the political spectrum fall in love in a Kerala city torn by violence.
A young man marries a Tamil girl, and fearing his family, he brings her to the house as a servant. Problem starts when his elder brothers falls for her too.
Bhaskaran, a goldsmith, is madly in love with Snehalatha, the daughter of astrologer, Panicker. When Bhaskaran asks for Sneha's hand in marriage, to his shock, she denies their love affair.
Aishwarya (Ambika) is a reporter for a newsmagazine looking to investigate the connection between politics and crime in Kerala. She is drawn to the life of Sagar alias Jacky (Mohanlal) who runs a clandestine gold smuggling business for Shekharan (Suresh Gopi), the son of a the state Chief Minister. Jacky is an enigmatic character who stops the smuggling business from growing because of ethical issues with narcotics, and spends his personal time pining for a girlfriend (Urvashi) who is serving time for murder. Ambika publishes a sensational article connecting Jacky to the minister, and pushes the uneasy relationship between Shekharan and Jacky into an open confrontation.
Midhunam movie is all about Sethumadhavan (Mohanlal) who has plans to start a biscuit factory near his house. But the bureaucracy and the corruption of the officials are the hurdles in front of him. Kamala knows that Kunjunju is a flirt and so she tries to keep away from him. Deepu never tells about his love to Kamala or to Kunjunju, but Ashtamurthy knows about it. Kunjunju and Deepu falls apart after a fight and Ashtamurthy brings them together. The story takes a turn, when Sophy dies and the sisters are left alone
Vinod/Vinu (played by Mohanlal) is mentally ill and is hospitalized in the institution run by Dr. Ravindran ( M G Soman). Story progresses as Vinod recovers with the help of Dr. Savithri, Dr. Ravindran's daughter (Karthika) and Dr. Unnikrishnan (Nedumudi Venu) who finds that Vinu fell ill after the accidental death of his fiancée Anitha (Lizy). Later Vinu and Savithri fall in love but Savithri is already engaged to be married to her cousin, Hari(Mukesh). Plot progresses as Dr. Ravindran opposes the romance between the doctor and the recovered patient.
