フロリダ。高校の人気教師サムが、教え子のケリーからレイプされたと訴えられ、裁判が開かれることに。だがケリーのクラスメイトのスージーの証言によって事件はケリーの狂言だと暴露され、サムが多額の慰謝料を手にして裁判は終結する。それに不審を抱いた刑事デュケは再捜査に乗り出すが、実はサムはケリーやスージーと裏で手を組んでいたのだった。しかも事態は、その後も意外な方向に突き進んでいく。
