死者が蘇り人間を食らう世界。死者の数がもやは手が付けられぬほど増加し絶望的になっていく。フロリダの地下軍事基地でゾンビ研究を行いながら細々と生き残るグループ。ローガン博士はゾンビを飼いならし人間を襲わないよう凶暴性を取り除く実験に光を見出していたが一向に進展しない状況に軍隊グループと次第に軋轢が高まっていく。施設内で実験としてゾンビを飼いならすまともでない実験が軍の指揮官ローズに発覚した事で、張り詰めていた緊張が爆発し軍人たちは研究者を襲撃し格納していたヘリで脱出を始めるが、追い詰めらた彼らはゲートを開けてしまいゾンビがなだれ込んで来る。
実際にあった“カレン・シルクウッド事件”を映画化した社会派サスペンス作。カレンが働くプルトニウム工場で放射能漏事故が起こった。自身が被爆していた彼女は会社の不正を正そうと闘い始める。
黒澤明監督自身が見た夢をベースに、時に美しく、時に残酷な8つの物語がオムニバス形式でつづられ、豊潤なイメージ世界が描かれる作品。きつねの嫁入りを見た少年の話「日照り雨」。花吹雪の中、人形たちが舞い踊る「桃畑」。戦争で生き残った男が体験する不可思議な物語「トンネル」。ゴッホが絵画の世界に入り込んだ「鴉(からす)」。原発の恐怖を描いた「赤富士」など、8つの物語が、時に美しく、時に残酷にオムニバス形式でつづられていく。黒澤監督の豊潤なイメージ世界を堪能できる作品。
500 years after they were blinded and executed for committing human sacrifices, a band of Templar knights returns from the grave to terrorize a rural Portuguese village during it's centennial celebration. Being blind, the Templars find their victims through sound, usually the screams of their victims.
