1976年6月27日、イスラエルからフランスへ向けて飛び立った民間旅客機を、武装した4人の男女がハイジャックする非常事態が発生。4人のうちの2人は、パレスチナ解放人民戦線のメンバー。残る2人は、彼らのシンパであるドイツ極左組織のメンバー、ヴィルフリードとブリギッテ。彼らは、エンテベ空港に旅客機を緊急着陸させると、大勢の乗客乗員を人質に取り、イスラエル政府に対して厳しい政治的要求を突きつける。
