過去の愛に囚われた孤独な男が新たな一歩を踏み出すべく奮闘する姿を、名優アル・パチーノ主演で描いたヒューマンドラマ。鍵修理屋を営みながら愛猫と暮らす老人マングルホーン。息子家族と疎遠になり孤独な毎日を送る彼は、毎週訪れる銀行の女性受付係ドーンと交わす他愛のない会話を大切にしていた。ある日、マングルホーンが通うカフェにドーンが現われる。これをきっかけにドーンとの距離を縮めていくマングルホーンだったが、心の奥底ではかつて愛した女性クララへの未練をいまも引きずっていた。
