「セイ・エニシング」「ザ・エージェント」のキャメロン・クロウ監督が自身の体験を基に、ブレイク寸前のロックバンドのツアーの同行取材を任された15歳の少年の姿を描いた青春音楽ムービー。15歳の少年ウィリアムは伝説的なロック・ライターに自分の記事が気に入られ、ローリングストーン誌の仕事をもらう。さっそく取材で楽屋を訪れた彼は、グルーピーの中にいたペニー・レインに一目惚れする。

メタルドラマーのルーベンは聴力を失い始める。医師から病状が悪化すると告げられた彼は、自分のキャリアと人生が終わったと思う。ガールフレンドのルーは、再発防止と新しい生活への適応を願い、聴覚障害者のためのリハビリ施設にこの元中毒患者を入所させる。しかし、ルーベンは新しい日常と、かつて知っていた人生のどちらかを選ばなければならない。

The Lone Rangers have heavy-metal dreams and a single demo tape they can't get anyone to play. The solution: Hijack an FM rock radio station and hold the deejays hostage until they agree to broadcast the band's tape.
