“大物”になる夢を抱き続け、気がつけば職もなく、家賃まで滞納しているサム。ある日、隣に住む美女サラにひと目惚れし、何とかデートの約束を取り付けるが次の日、彼女は忽然と消えてしまう。もぬけの殻になった部屋を訪ねたサムは、壁に書かれた奇妙な記号を見つけ、陰謀の匂いをかぎ取る。折しも、大富豪や映画プロデューサーらの失踪や謎の死が続き、真夜中になると犬殺しが出没し、街を操る謎の裏組織の存在が噂されていた。そんな中重要なヒントが、“ニンテンドー・パワー・マガジン”のあるページの暗号に辿り着き──。
