ラジオ局の重役を務めるブラッドは、バツイチ女性サラと結婚し、サラの連れ子である2人の子どもの父親となる。しかし穏やかで真面目な性格のブラッドは子どもたちにとっては退屈で、いまいち打ち解けられずにいた。そんなある日、サラの前夫であるワイルドな特殊部隊員ダスティが、子どもたちに会いに訪ねてくる。容姿も性格も正反対のブラッドとダスティは、子どもたちの支持を得ようと意地の張り合いをはじめる。
