元々は軍事用ロボットだが、落雷によるショート・サーキット（回路不良）で感情を持ってしまったナンバー・ファイブ。以前は工場から逃げ出す騒動を起こしたが、今や人間たちにもなじんでジョニー5というニックネームで呼ばれる。NYでジョニー5のおもちゃを作って売っているベンはデパートで働くサンディの依頼を受け、おもちゃをひと月で1000体作ることに。そこに本物のジョニー5が現われ、おもちゃ作りを手伝うことに。

Cole Thornton, a gunfighter for hire, joins forces with an old friend, Sheriff J.P. Hara. Together with a fighter and a gambler, they help a rancher and his family fight a rival rancher that is trying to steal their water.

Rosario, the niece of the rancher, returns to the ranch after ten years of absence. She takes in Margarito, a worker at the ranch, who is immediately smitten by her. Rosario is rescued from a runaway horse by the Seven Men, an outlaw a la Robin Hood that steals from the rich and gives to the poor. He also happens to be the twin brother of Margarito, unbeknownst to him. The confusion between Margarito and the Seven Men generates great comical situations in the film.

初老の男ウィルはホテルの一室で、過去に犯した妻殺しの顛末を書き記していく。1922年。ウィルは妻アルレットや14歳の息子ヘンリーと農場を営んでいた。しかし田舎暮らしを嫌うアルレットは、自身が権利を持つ農場の土地を売り払って都会に引っ越したいと言い出す。農場を離れたくないウィルは、強引に土地を売り出そうとするアルレットの殺害を決意。同じく都会行きを嫌がるヘンリーを説得して片棒を担がせ、計画を実行に移すが……。

Trinity and Bambino manage to save the Mormons and send the bad guys packing with slapstick humor instead of excessive violence, saving the day.
