Follow the lives of a group of lifeguards and their friends as they party and play on the beaches of Southern California. Sweaty summertime sex outside, inside and even in a jeep on the beach! These smooth swimmers just can't keep their hands to themselves. It all culminates with a sea of tan twinks and brawny jocks waxing each-other's surfboards at a scorching hot end-of-summer orgy. An underwater earthquake generates a tsunami that strikes Malibu, bringing a hunting pack of prehistoric-looking goblin sharks to the surface. Although the beach is evacuated before the big wave strikes, a group of lifeguards and a crew of construction workers are stranded in the high water and have to fight the sharks to get to dry land.

A lifeguard at Lake Müggel has his hand bitten off and the marks indicate a shark attack. The lake is closed to the public by extending a local festival indefinitely while the city council thinks of what can be done to remove the shark. The public becomes restless having their lake closed for so long and come up with a plan to drive the shark from the lake with large quantities of beer.
During the heat wave, swimmers flock to a municipal pool. Rain or shine, as the days pass the place takes on a life of its own, and the lifeguards, while immature at times, shoulder considerable responsibilities.
The Degrassi kids spend one last summer together.
