ある春の朝、森の大王、大鹿のグレート・スタッグの子供としてバンビが生れた。バンビは仔兎のトンパーやスカンクのフラワーと友人になり、また牝の仔鹿ファリンとも仲良しになった。夏、秋、冬、バンビはすくすくと成長したが…。

クマのブーグは、パークレンジャーのベスに育てられている甘えん坊のペット。彼はある日、ハンターのショーに捕らえられたお調子者のシカ、エリオットに出会う。そして、エリオットに必死に頼み込まれたブーグは、彼を助けてあげることに。しかし、しつこく付きまとってくるエリオットと行動を共にするうち、あちこちで問題を引き起こしてしまったブーグは、エリオットと一緒に森に放り出されてしまうハメに。慣れない自然界を抜け出して町へ戻ろうとするブーグとエリオットだが、執拗に追ってきたショーから逃げるのに四苦八苦の毎日。やがて“オープン・シーズン（狩猟解禁日）”が到来、ブーグは他の動物たちと共に、またしても銃を手に姿を現わしたショーに立ち向かうことになる。

休暇を過ごす為、アッシュは恋人リンダと共に森深くたたずむ別荘にやって来る。 退屈しのぎに別荘の地下室に入りそこで見つけた古いテープレコーダーを再生すると、そこからは かつて別荘の住人だった学者の古文書解読の経緯を伝える音声が流れてくる。 古文書の呪文の一節を朗読するその音声は唱えてはならない古代の死霊を呼び出す禁句であった。 突如リンダの様相は豹変しアッシュに襲い掛かってくる。防ごうと必死になりついにはリンダを殺して しまう。リンダを埋葬している最中アッシュ自身に死霊が憑依するが夜が明けたため死霊はアッシュから はなれてしまう。その隙に別荘から脱出を図るが唯一の帰り道にかかる橋が壊れていたためやむなく 別荘に戻ることになる。死霊との戦いに供えているアッシュの別荘に現れたのはテープの声の主の娘 だった。死霊との戦いで血まみれになったアッシュを殺人犯と勘違いした娘は仲間と共にアッシュを 袋叩きにし拘束するがその時、またしても死霊が森の奥からアッシュ達を襲うべく別荘を囲み始めるのだった。

元ペットの熊・ブーグと野生育ちの鹿・エリオットは大の仲良し。エリオットの結婚式が近づく中、森で暮らしていたダックスフンドのウィニーが飼い主に連れ戻されてしまう。エリオットとブーグはウィニーを探す旅に出る。

In exchange, the man promises not to reveal the deer's whereabouts. The man reaches an imperial palace. The king insists on hunting down the spiritual deer down to make clothes out of the deer skin. The man gives in to his greed and leads an army of warriors to the spot. He falls into the river again, hoping the deer will show up to rescue him. This time, all the warriors' arrows turn into dust and the man is drowned

It is a personal and spiritual film, marked inevitably by Chambers’s knowledge that he had leukemia. The late American avant-garde filmmaker Stan Brakhage said of Hart, "If I named the five greatest films [ever made], this has got to be one of them." Even this high praise falls short of hyperbole. The Hart of London is at the centre of Chambers’s extraordinary achievement.
