前作で息絶えたチャッキーだったが、アンディとグッドガイ人形の事件が全国で取り上げられグッドガイ人形の製造元は人気が低迷した。チャッキーを復元して人形に異常はないということを証明しようとしていたのだが、人形にはまだ凶悪殺人鬼の魂が残っていた。元に戻ったチャッキーは再び魂を取るためアンディを探しにいくのであった。

スタンフォード大のジンバルドー教授は日給15ドルを受け取れるが1〜2週間拘束されるという条件で、ある実験に参加する男子学生を募集し、約20人が実験に参加する。それは夏休みで人がほとんどいない校舎の一角を刑務所と設定し、参加者たちを看守と受刑者に分けたらどうなるかを観察する実験だった。看守役の学生たちは本物の看守のように受刑者役の学生たちを支配するようになり、禁じられたはずの暴力まで行使し始める。
