On the first day at his new school, Cameron instantly falls for Bianca, the gorgeous girl of his dreams. The only problem is that Bianca is forbidden to date until her ill-tempered, completely un-dateable older sister Kat goes out, too. 16世紀末のロンドン。スランプに陥っていた劇作家シェイクスピアはオーディションにやって来た一人の若者トマス・ケントを追ってとある屋敷へたどり着く。そこには以前、芝居の最中に目を留めた美しい女性ヴァイオラの姿があった。シェイクスピアと彼を信奉するヴァイオラはたちまち恋におちてしまう。燃え上がる恋心が創作意欲をかき立てたのか、シェイクスピアの台本は急ピッチで仕上がって行き、トマス・ケントを主役とした芝居の稽古も順調に進んでいた。ヴォイオラの別れの手紙をトマスから受け取ったシェイクスピアは納得できず再びトマスの後を追うのだが、そこで彼はトマスこそヴァイオラの男装した姿だった事を知るのだった。

シェイクスピアの『マクベス』を日本の戦国時代に置き換え様式美に拘り描いた戦国武将の一大悲劇。鷲津武時は謀反を起こした敵を討ち、その帰途の森で出会った老婆から不思議な予言を聞く。やがて予言通り事が運び始めると、欲望に取り憑かれた妻にそそのかされて主を殺し、自ら城主の地位につくのだったが……。
