大好きな科学に夢中になるあまり、友達が一人もできない少年ヴィクター。そんな彼を両親は心配していたが、ヴィクターは愛犬スパーキーを相棒にして楽しい毎日を送っていた。しかし、思いも寄らぬ事故が起きて、スパーキーは天国へと旅立ってしまう。深い悲しみに沈んでいたヴィクターだったが、次第にスパーキーをよみがえらせたいという強い気持ちを抱くように。少しばかり危険な科学な知識を駆使してスパーキー蘇生に成功するが、その姿はつぎはぎだらけで、まるでフランケンシュタインのようだった。
