女子高校生ブリトニーは、亡くなった母親が再婚した、裕福なナイルズと暮らしてきたが、ある日ナイルズは自家用機の事故で命を落とす。ナイルズは自身に巨額の保険金を懸けており、ブリトニーはそれを自分が相続できると思っていたが、彼女の同級生マヤは、自分はナイルズの隠し子で、自分もナイルズの娘として遺産を相続できると主張したため、状況は一転して複雑に。保険調査員ブリッジはその真相を突き止めようとする。

ある日イウォークの村が、テラク卿の一団に襲撃を受ける。それによりシンデルの両親と兄が死亡。イウォークたちもテラク一味に捕らえられてしまった。天涯孤独になったシンデルは親友ウィケットと共に、行く宛てもないまま村を離れることに。その途中ティークという謎の動物に招かれ、ある小屋へと導かれる２人。そこには偏屈な老人ノアが住んでいた。彼は大昔に友人サラクと共に宇宙探査に出発したが、エンドアに墜落。その後サラクは行方不明となり、1人で宇宙船を修理しながらその小屋に住んでいたのだ。
