When a group of tourists on a New Orleans haunted swamp tour find themselves stranded in the wilderness, their evening of fun and spooks turns into a horrific nightmare.

軍の退役後、生物学教授として大学にて教鞭をとるレナのもとに1年前の極秘任務に赴いたまま行方不明だった夫ケインが突然現れる。しかし、ケインは記憶が曖昧で、どうやって家に戻ったのかすら理解できていない。ケインはその後、容態を崩し、病院への搬送中、軍によってレナとともに拘束され研究施設に連れていかれる。施設でレナは心理学者のヴェントレスによってケインが危篤状態であると告げられ、ケインはこの施設の外に広がるシマーと呼ばれるエリアからの唯一の生存者であると説明される。レナはベントレスがシマーを物理学者のジョージー・ラデク、人類学者のキャス・シェパード救急医療隊員のアーニャ・ソレンセンを率いて調査することを知り、この探検隊への参加を自ら志願する。

A fanatical animal rights activist releases giant pythons into the Everglades, believing the wild animals should be set free.
