ハリウッド版「ゴジラ」の監督を務めたギャレス・エドワーズが、その監督に抜擢される契機となったSF映画。太陽系に地球外生命体の存在を確認したNASAは、探査機でサンプルを採取したが、大気圏突入時にメキシコ上空で大破してしまう。それから6年後、モンスターたちの襲撃で大きな被害を受け、国境を閉鎖されたメキシコでスクープを狙うカメラマンのコールダーは、ケガをした社長令嬢サマンサをアメリカ国境付近まで送り届ける命令を受けていた。

父と屋敷で暮らしていたダニエルだったが、二人の娘がやってきたことから状況が一変。父も亡くなり、ダニエルはメイドとしてつらい生活を送るはめに……。今までにない解釈で映像化された、シンデレラのストーリーをもとにした時代劇。
