祖母と暮らす小学3年生の正男は、夏休みを利用して写真でしか見たことのない母に会いにゆく事を決意。そんな正男を心配した近所の主婦は、無職でブラブラしている自分の夫・菊次郎を同行させる。嫌々引き受けた菊次郎は、少年との旅も右往左往でいい加減。だがそんな2人の間にもやがて交流が生まれ、ついに正男の母と対面の時を迎える。
