Ukraine, 1990s. Young Vova, cruel and tenacious, struggles to find his place among the ruthless members of the underworld in a city where crime and corruption reign.
Emmi Kurowski, a cleaning lady, is lonely in her old age. Her husband died years ago, and her grown children offer little companionship. One night she goes to a bar frequented by Arab immigrants and strikes up a friendship with middle-aged mechanic Ali. Their relationship soon develops into something more, and Emmi's family and neighbors criticize their spontaneous marriage. Soon Emmi and Ali are forced to confront their own insecurities about their future.

In this East German post-wall movie Andreas Dresen introduces the sad everyday life of two couples from Frankfurt an der Oder in a honest and tolerable manner.

2016年、南アフリカ。ディオンは、世界初の自身で感じ、考え、成長することができる人工知能搭載ロボットのチャッピーを開発する。しかし、世界でも有数の危険地帯ヨハネスブルクに巣食うストリートギャングにチャッピーと一緒に誘拐されてしまう。起動したばかりで子供のように純粋なチャッピーは、ストリートギャングのメンバーたちと接し、彼らから生き抜くためのスキルを学んでいくがバッテリー残量が5日分しかない。
