マットは、妻と２人の娘と共にハワイで暮らしていた。ところがある日、妻がボートの事故に遭い、そのまま昏睡状態となってしまう。それをきっかけに、妻が彼と離婚するつもりだったことや、そのことを長女だけでなく友人たちも知っていたことが判明しショックを受ける。

1950年代から1960年代にかけて、哀愁漂う大きな目の子供を描いた絵画「BIG EYES」シリーズが世界中で人気を博す。作者のウォルター・キーンは一躍アート界で有名人になるものの、実際に制作していたのは妻マーガレットだった。自身の感情を唯一表現できる絵画を守るため、マーガレットは自分が描いたという事実の公表を考える。
