１９９０年、ジョージタウンで黒人の少年と２人の神父が殺されるという連続猟奇殺人事件が発生する。犠牲者の首を切りキリスト像とすげ替えるという犯行の手口は１５年前に犯人が処刑された“乙女座殺人事件”と同じだった。捜査に当たったキンダーマン警部は、殺された神父達はどちらも１５年前に起こった“エクソシズム（悪魔払い）”事件に関係があったという共通点を発見する。
