さびれた商店街にどこからともなく一人の男が現れ、片隅に座り込む。男に興味を持った少年が撮影した写真をSNSに投稿すると、翌日から投稿を見た人々が男の周りに集まってくる。何の反応も示さず、虚空を見つめているだけの男の存在について人々はそれぞれに持論を展開し始め、いつしか男は「断食芸人」に仕立て上げられていき…。
