京浜工業地帯の一角で鉄工所を経営している川瀬周三は、昭和４１年になって、めっきり身体のおとろえを覚え、工場の実務を２６歳になる一人息子の武志に譲った。そして、秋には、妻・雪枝の郷里から田切杏子を迎え、結婚式をひかえていた。順風満帆、周三にはおだやかな老後が残されているだけのように思えた。昭和４１年５月、武志は、友人吉川と近くの釣り堀に出かけた帰り道、ある若者とすれ違った瞬間、腹部を刃物で刺され「お父さん、口惜しいよ、こんなことで死ぬなんて、仇は必ずとってくれよ」と言うと、周三の腕の中で息たえた。

Part II builds toward that great duel on Ganryu Island, with considerable focus on Musashi's planning & forethought as to how to gain an advantage.

Seijuro Fujihana, head master of the Fujihana dance school, is a proud and lonely artist. And because of his character, his group lacks the prosperity of others. He wishes his daughter Kasumi, gifted like himself, to take over and develop the Fujihana, but she wishes to marry Hiroshi, head of a jazz band which her father opposes. 「男はつらいよ」シリーズ第2作。車寅次郎（渥美清）は、弟分の登（津坂匡章）と北海道へ出発する前にふらりと葛飾商業学校時代の英語の恩師・坪内先生（東野英治郎）の家を訪ねた。先生の娘・夏子（佐藤オリエ）に一目惚れした寅次郎は浮かれてしまい、先生宅で飲み食いが過ぎ病院に担ぎ込まれてしまう。入院先の病院でトラブルを起こして脱走。さらに、舎弟の登と焼肉店で無銭飲食と店長の男性に暴力をふるい、警察に連行された。さすがにいたたまれなくなった寅次郎は北海道の仕事もうまくいかずに関西の京都へたどり着く。

A young female samurai comes upon a dying messenger and agrees to deliver the scroll he was carrying to its destination. During the early days of the war a young student, Makito (Kazuo Funaki), falls in love with Yuko (Mayumi Ozora), the widow of a naval officer. She, however, is living with the memories of her husband and it is her younger sister, Yumiko (Nana Ozaki), who grows fond of the student. Then, one day, a young naval officer, Tadayuki (Ken Ogata), a friend of her late husband, comes to see the widow and she becomes attracted to him. Though Makito is inspired to study for the navy, he is much upset when he learns that Yuko and Tadayuki are to marry.

After an argument with his father a son leaves his home and comes back only, as an adult, many years later just to cause them problem after problem.

A group of ne'er-do-wells live happily in the slums of what is now Tokyo and have a number of adventures: they get drunk and go whoring, revenge themselves on cruel landlords, animate the corpse of a money-lender in order to frighten people. Then they assist at the marriage of a lovely girl and almost kill themselves gambling to provide her with a dowry.

Shochiku's popular series of gang films, this one has the hero returning from prison bent on revenge. He runs into Chinese hoodlums, blackmailers and gold-smugglers. But he also aids and abets young lovers yet, despite his help, their love ends in tragedy and he tracks down his prey in Kobe.

Shinichi is not only poor, he is also deaf, and leads a joyless life with his sick mother. His one happiness is his friendship with a girl who works in a bar nearby. Then, one day, his mother dies after drinking the medicine that Shinichi himself gave her. It is discovered that the pills contained poison. He is apprehended on suspicion of murder and taken away for interrogation, unable to defend himself - being deaf and dumb - or even to proclaim his innocence.

A young woman begins murdering all those responsible for her ailing father's condition. Because the girl is so outwardly sweet and innocent, the detective looking into the deaths does not suspect her.

On his deathbed, a wealthy businessman announces that his fortune is to be split equally among his three illegitimate children, whose whereabouts are unknown to his family and colleagues. A bevy of lawyers and associates scheme to procure the money for themselves, enlisting the aid of impostors and blackmail.

After moving in to their dream home, newlyweds decide to rent out their second floor to save money. They soon discover the woe of being landlords.

On his way to Tokyo one night, a truck driver picks up a country girl and has his way with her amidst a forest. A few days later he loses his job after a run-in with some punks, but is offered a job by a gangster impressed by his fighting skills. He tries to make amends with the girl he ravished, but becomes caught up in the ways of the underworld...

Ignoring the protests of his working-class mother, a young man becomes wrapped up in the world of delinquents and yakuza.

戦後変わりつつある家族の関係をテーマに人間の生と死までをも見つめた深淵なドラマ。故郷の尾道から20年ぶりに東京へ出てきた老夫婦。成人した子どもたちの家を訪ねるが、みなそれぞれの生活に精一杯だった。唯一、戦死した次男の未亡人だけが皮肉にも優しい心遣いを示すのだった……。

At the close of the war in Japan, a widowed mother makes every possible sacrifice to bring up her ungrateful son and daughter who are unimpressed with their poor standard of living at home. They gradually reject her in search of the material comforts that working as a maid cannot provide. The mother's despair becomes interminable.

Carmen falls in love with an artist in this sequel to Carmen Comes Home. The film is noted for being entirely shot with canted (Dutch) camera angles.
