最愛の妻に先立たれて1週間。最近は認知症が進み、物忘れが激しくなった90歳の老人ゼヴのもとに1通の手紙が届く。それは、かつて彼と同様、アウシュビッツのユダヤ人収容所での地獄を生き延びた旧知の友人マックスからの手紙で、彼らの家族を殺した憎い元ナチス兵が実は正体を偽って現在も生きていること、そして、4人にまで絞られたその容疑者の名前と居場所が書き記され、ゼヴにその復讐をぜひ頼む、というものだった。

恋人メリンを何者かに殺害された上に、容疑者にされてしまったイグ。苦しい日々を過ごす中、彼の額に突如として角が生えだす。次第に太く大きくなっていく角に恐れおののくイグだったが、その角にどんな相手であろうとも真実を語らせてしまう不思議な力があることに気付く。角を使ってさまざまな者たちの思惑を引き出し、そこから生まれる新たな疑惑に直面するイグ。やがて事件の真相に近づいていくが、それはあまりにも悲痛で凄惨なものだった。
