A story about the harsh times during colonization and famine of the 1930’s. The main character, gravedigger Isatai, played by Yerkebulan Dairov, will find himself faced by a hard choice that will predetermine the fate of his village.

The action takes place in the XV century, and the plot demonstrates the key events in formation of Kazakh statehood under the leadership of Khans Zhanibek and Kerey.
The film covers a period from 1984 to 1991 and tells about the rise of new independent states, including Kazakhstan. In addition, it features the role of the first President of Kazakhstan in the reforms carried out in the country, as well as the initiatives, which today have turned into global scale projects.
