In a remote mountain camp that is off limits to women, young men, painted in white ochre, recuperate as they learn the masculine codes of their culture. In this environment of machismo and aggression, Xolani cares for a defiant initiate from Johannesburg, Kwanda, who quickly learns Xolani's best kept secret, that he is in love with another man.

Basson has five days to make it to his father's funeral in Cape Town, but needs to complete certain tasks on this trip before he can call the family company his own. On the road he meets free-spirited bohemian girl, Amory. As they journey across the breathtaking landscape of South Africa, they meet wonderful characters that allow for hilarious moments and life-changing experiences. Their trip takes a sudden turn for the worst when a villainous figure makes an appearance. Basson and Amory are faced with disappointment and heartache. On the road called life, it is inevitable that you will take some wrong turns. But no matter how hard the road might be, on route to true love is where you will find your true north.

Albert's life was irreversibly altered when the friendship that defined his childhood abruptly ended. In the wake of his best friend's departure to university, he found himself isolated in their hometown where they had spent their youth together. His music and his distant father now his only companions. Out of the bleakness surfaces feelings he has to confront for the first time. When the time finally comes for Albert to join his long time friend at university, he finds himself even more isolated than before. Now, in a profound attempt to regain his friend's acceptance, he takes on the physically and emotionally demanding task of learning the Rachmaninoff Cello Sonata. As he becomes engrossed in the Sonata, the past relives itself and the truth of Albert's desperate search for reconciliation becomes clear to him, while his friend grows more distant. Finale follows a boy's struggle to embrace his coming of age as he fears facing the person on the other side of the mirror.
