昭和12年。刑務所で同じ釜の飯を食った錠吉と玄造がともに出所。錠吉は、兄貴分を殺した仇敵を捜し求めて、売春宿に身を落とした兄貴分の女房を訪ねるが、既に彼女は死亡。そこで出会った売春婦のサキエから、自分を助けてほしいと頼まれた錠吉は、折しもその売春宿に遊びに来ていた玄造と一致協力して、サキエを足抜けさせることに成功する。やがて3人は、ひょんなことから知った海底に沈む財宝探しに夢中になる。
