夏休み。小学生のノリミチは、両親の離婚のため、夏休み後に転校が決まった同級生ナズナから今夜の花火大会に一緒に行こうと誘われるが、ナズナは家出しようとしており、ノリミチはそれに付き合わされそうになる。一方、ノリミチの仲間たち、ジュンイチらは、打ち上げ花火が横から見ても丸いのか、それとも平べったいのか、花火大会に行って実際に見て確かめようと決めていた。ナズナは引き続いて家出する決心を固めていた。
