凶悪犯の張り込みの最中に親友で同僚の堀部の好意に甘え、数カ月前に幼い子供を亡くし失意のまま体調を崩していた妻・美幸を病院に見舞った西は、そこで妻が不治の病で助からないことを聞かされる。ショックを受ける西。だがそんな彼に、更に堀部が犯人の凶弾に倒れたとの連絡が入った。その後、犯人は別の場所で発見されるも、逮捕へのあせりから西は失態を演じ、後輩の田中が命を落としてしまう。罪悪感にさいなまれ、職を辞す西。彼は、下半身不随となり車椅子の生活を送る堀部に画材道具を贈る為、また田中の妻や余命幾ばくもない美幸との生活資金を工面する為、ヤクザから借金を重ねるようになる。しかし、その返済に首が回らなくなり、思い余って銀行強盗を決行。盗んだ金を堀部や田中の妻に送り、ヤクザに借金を返済すると、残った金を持って美幸と共に旅に出るのだった。だが、そんな西をヤクザたちは利子が足りないと言って執拗に追いかけてきた。妻との残り少ない時間を誰にも邪魔されたくない。西は、追ってきたヤクザたちを次々に殺害していく。やがて、後輩の刑事の中村が西の身を案じて駆けつけてきた。しかし、西は彼にもう少し時間をくれと頼む。静かな砂浜、妻をそっと抱き寄せた西は、自ら自分たちの人生に幕を引く。

平成ガメラシリーズ第1作。 監督に金子修介、脚本に伊藤和典、特撮監督に樋口真嗣を迎え、リアリティを徹底的に追求しつつ、新しい特撮表現に挑んだ意欲的な怪獣映画となった。 1995年。太平洋上に発見された謎の巨大漂流環礁が、黒潮に乗って日本に近づいていた。保険会社の草薙と海上保安庁の米森は環礁の調査に乗り出し、環礁の上で不思議な石版と大量の勾玉を発見。さらに、この環礁が生物であるということが明らかになる。 同じ頃、九州の五島列島・姫神島で、島民が「鳥！」という無線を最後に消息を絶つ事件が発生。調査に呼ばれた鳥類学者の長峰はそこで、島民を食らった巨大な怪鳥を発見する。 政府は怪鳥の捕獲を決定。長峰が中心となって福岡ドームに誘い込む作戦を決行するが、その内の１匹を取り逃がしてしまう。巣に向かって帰巣する１匹を自衛隊のヘリが追跡していた時、博多湾からあの環礁＝巨大生物が出現。向かって来る怪鳥を平手打ちで石油コンビナートに吹き飛ばして倒し、そのまま博多へ上陸。周りの建物を破壊しながらドームに向かって行く。更に、予期せぬ事態に周囲は大混乱に陥り、その隙を突いた２匹の怪鳥は自らを閉じ込めていた鉄格子を強力な超音波で切断して脱出。巨大生物も円盤のような姿となって怪鳥を追って飛び去っていった。 「最後の希望・ガメラ、時の揺りかごに託す。災いの影・ギャオスと共に目覚めん。」 古代の石板に記された碑文から、政府は巨大生物をガメラ、怪鳥をギャオスと呼称する。政府はギャオスの捕獲にこだわる一方、ギャオスよりも体格的に大きいガメラを危険視し、ギャオスを追うガメラを攻撃する。 ガメラの妨害を逃れ短期間で巨大に成長を遂げたギャオスは、エサとなる人間を求め東京へと向かう。ここにきてようやく政府は捕獲を中止し、ギャオスに攻撃を行うが、ギャオスは自衛隊の発射したミサイルを巧みに誘導して東京タワーを破壊させ、真っ二つに折れた東京タワーに営巣する。しかしギャオスの産卵直後、突如大きな地震が起こり、次の瞬間、傷の癒えたガメラが地中から出現。東京タワーごと巣を破壊したものの、ギャオスを取り逃がしてしまう。急いで飛び上がるガメラ。 今ここに、東京の空を舞台とした、二大怪獣による空中決戦の火蓋が切られた。

大阪・ミナミに拠点を置く御蔵組は、小さいながらも強く深い絆で結ばれていた。村木芙由は、病床の夫である組長に代わり組織を取りまとめ、組員からもその妻たちからも慕われていた。彼女は、折りからの土地再開発に便乗し、その利権でこの組織を他組織の脅威にも揺るがないほどの盤石なものにしようとしていたが、その利権をめぐってキタに拠点を持つ巨大組織・侠和会が露骨に牽制してきた。そして遂に、別荘で夫の村木と過ごした翌日、車で帰途途中ヘリコプターからの銃弾にみまわれ、村木は即死、芙由も重傷を負って病院に運び込まれてしまう。

個性派作家・内田百閒の随筆を原案に、百閒の日常と彼の教師時代の教え子との交流を描く。 昭和18年の春。先生は生徒たちに、作家活動に専念するために学校を去ることを告げるが、退職後引っ越した家にも門下生たちは遊びにやってくる。

ヤクザにゆすられ続けるホテル、ホテル・ヨーロッパ。ヤクザの脅しに屈して簡単に金を出してしまう体質から日本中のヤクザが引っ切り無しに訪れるようになり、危機管理の甘さを露呈し、サミットの招致も断られてしまう。この状況を打開すべく、総支配人の小林は経理部の鈴木勇気、ベルボーイの若杉太郎の二人をヤクザへの対応役として任命。しかし、何の知識もない二人はヤクザを追い出すどころか火に油を注ぐ結果となり、ますますヤクザの恐喝を悪化させてしまう。見かねたホテルの幹部はついに外部からプロを雇うことになる。それが民事介入暴力（民暴）を専門とする弁護士、井上まひるであった。 まひるはヤクザ相手に経験と法律の知識を武器に堂々と立ち向かい、鈴木と若杉に「ヤクザを怖がらない」ことを教え、二人は徐々に勇気を持つようになった。そんな中、小林はゴルフ場で知り合った入内島という男性に誘われるがまま賭けゴルフをしてしまう。しかし実は、入内島はヤクザ組織の中心人物であり、賭けゴルフをきっかけとして総支配人にスキャンダルの罠を仕掛ける。 なかなか脅迫に屈しないホテルに対して入内島は街宣車を送り込むなどの嫌がらせを行う。それに対してまひるは裁判所に不作為の申請をする等、一歩も引かず対処するが、ヤクザの「鉄砲玉」によって腹部を刺され重傷を負う。怒りに燃える若杉は鉄砲玉を打ちのめすが、まひるは出血多量で病院に担ぎ込まれる。

収集車でのごみ回収業務を仕事とする聾唖の青年・茂がごみとして出された先端の欠けたサーフボードを持ち帰る。茂はそのボードに発泡スチロールを継ぎ合わせ、同じく聾唖の彼女・貴子を誘い海へ向かう。茂はサーフィンにのめりこむ。貴子は砂浜に座っていつもそれを見つめていた。修繕したボードはほどなく壊れ、新品を買った茂はますますサーフィンに夢中になる。初めは茂をバカにしていた地元のサーファーたちも、サーフィンに打ち込む茂を見直すようになる。ついに茂は仕事を休みがちになり、貴子のこともなおざりにしてしまう。しかし、上司に叱咤され、貴子の涙をみた茂は生活を取り戻す。サーフィンを趣味として楽しみ、上達した腕前で大会での入賞も果たす。ある日、貴子が海にやってくる。

A suspense drama based on Osamu Takahashi's original work starring Shinobu Otake. The shooting location of Gunkanjima is a famous tourist attraction. When Mansako returns to her husband's parents' house, she noticed a young man named Shinji playing drums at a village festival. Shinji who felt her gaze also looked back at Mansako. Masako invites Shinji to her house to welcome her husband together, and is witnessed by a housewife who came to inform her husband of the accidental death while helping him change clothes. She is stigmatized for infidelity. They are separated, but they vow to meet again 12 years later.

On an obscure Pacific Island just north of Australia, the Japanese Empire has operated a prisoner of war camp for Australian soldiers. At the close of World War II, the liberated POWs tell a gruesome tale of mass executions of over eight hundred persons as well as torture style killings of downed Australian airmen. In an attempt to bring those responsible to justice, the Australian Army establishes a War Crimes Tribunal to pass judgement on the Japanese men and officers who ran the Ambon camp. In an added twist, a high ranking Japanese admiral is implicated, and politics become involoved with justice as American authorities in Japan lobby for the Admiral's release. Two brothers, Jinta and Wataru, are raised in a travelling circus. After an accident, Jinta decides to leave the circus and travels the countryside working as a con-man.
