宇宙に棄てられ漂っていたロシアの古い衛星がニューヨークの地下鉄に落下。被害は少なかったものの、被害状況の確認に向かった駅員が謎の事故死を遂げてしまう。その死を不審に思った交通局のジェイソン・コールは、遺体に虫の卵が産み付けられていたことを知る。さらに軍も動き出し、厳戒態勢が敷かれるニューヨーク。宇宙から飛来したそれはいったい何なのか…？
