キャスリーンは、母親の代から続く小さな絵本の店を経営している。彼女は“ショップガール”というハンドルネームを持ち、顔も知らない“NY152”というハンドルネームの男性とメールのやり取りをすることを日々の楽しみにしていた。彼女の本屋の近くに大手の本屋チェーンがオープンするが、その経営者が実は“NY152”のジョーであった。彼も“ショップガール”とのメール交換を心の糧にしていたが、二人は顔を合わせると喧嘩が絶えなかった。そんなときキャスリーンは“NY152”から直接会わないかと提案される…。
