This film takes place in a small mining town in Serbia, within a time span covering the prewar, war, and postwar period. A story about tragic life of an illiterate woman from village, about her life with three men she loved. Her life, torn between dreams and reality, is a life of suffering, loneliness, disappointment, hope and love.

Pavle Pavlovic, a steel worker, openly talks about the issues in the steel factory in a television show. He receives an apartment from the board, takes his statement back, but looses the trust of his colleagues. He starts all over again: in another company he gains new friends, however while facing the criminals who illegally transport workers abroad, he loses his life.

A girl with a nickname "Yelow one" lives in the whirlpool of modern metropola. Without experiencing childhood, naive and simpleminded, she becomes a wanderer, although she has a burning desire for home and quiet life. The big city life laws get her in troubles, sad and, at least for her, unintelligible...

Shortly after World War II, the government sent a crew of drivers with large tractors to clear-cut and plow a vast, barren piece of land called "Krst Rakoc" in the hills of Kosovo and Metohia, for future orchards. They encounter deprecation and revolt from indigenous Albanian population who do not believe in good intentions of the government and the crew.

Kosmet in the fall of 1944. The Partisans have successfully liberated the town of Prizren from occupying Germans,and Ramiz Leshi, a brave and cunning KNOJ captain, has to liquidate the remainder of the local Quislings, called Balists. When it was about time for the contract to be signed, Mane explains it is all a big misunderstanding, but singers and orchestras already arrived. Music is everywhere, but Mane goes elsewhere to look for the oil.
