夜の宮津駅からタクシーに乗った千鶴は、運転手に人のいない場所に連れて行ってほしいと告げる。ほかに客のいない民宿たむらに案内された彼女は、その晩に意を決して大量の睡眠薬を服用し自殺を図る。だが失敗に終わり、32時間も眠り続けた後に目を覚まし、自給自足の生活を送る宿の主、田村とともに朝食を取ることになる。
