高校生の明（石黒英雄）の兄の篤（渡辺大）は、数年前に旅行に出掛けたまま失踪（しっそう）しており、今なお行方がわからないままだ。そんなある日、彼の前に謎の女性（水川あさみ）が現れ、兄は彼岸島という孤島にいると告げる。明は単身その島に乗り込む決意をするが、幼なじみの仲間たちも同行することになり……。
『恋する幼虫』『猫目小僧』などでカルト的人気を誇る井口昇監督が、海外資本で製作したスプラッター・アクション。たった一人の弟を殺された女子高生の壮絶な復讐（ふくしゅう）劇を、すし、忍者、ヤクザといった外国人が連想する日本的要素を散りばめて描く。主人公には映画初出演の八代みなせがふんし、体当たりのアクションを披露。共演には、亜紗美など井口組常連の個性派俳優たちが脇を固める。
「日本沈没」を筒井康隆がパロディ化した同名小説を、「いかレスラー」「コアラ課長」の鬼才・河崎実監督が映画化した異色作。2011年、原因不明の天変地異により日本以外のすべての陸地が沈没。日本には世界中から難民たちが押し寄せ、大パニックとなる。「あずみ」の小橋賢児や「カミュなんて知らない」の柏原収史ら人気若手俳優の出演に加え、元祖映画版とテレビ版で主演を務めた藤岡弘、と村野武範も豪華共演を果たしている。

To put an end to her boredom and pessimism, she leaves a message on her dial Q2 and meets a man. What does she get in exchange for making a man with a voice fetish cum? Despite the stylish pictures with a French taste, the story deepens from ennui to horror. The first half of the film, "the sense of alienation peculiar to a period when one is not young enough to be called a girl, but young enough to be called a woman", becomes "a scary story in the style of modern folklore" at the end.
国際連盟を脱退し国際的に孤立していた日本は、国内でも政治不安、恐慌や経済不況が蔓延し国民の不満が高まっていた。 こうした状況を憂い憤っていた一部の帝国陸軍青年将校達はひそかに企てていた現政権を取り巻く元老、重臣を粛清し天皇陛下中心の国政を実現すべく昭和維新を実現すべく昭和８年2月２１日ついにそれぞれの部隊を巻き込んで決起するが、国民を正義に導くはずの彼らの行動は次第にその思惑とはかけ離れた方向に陥っていく。
牢を出たばかりの座頭市は、漁師・儀肋の家にやっかいになった。その小さな漁村では五右衛門一家が賭場を開き、市もつきに任せて遊んでいた。跡目を継いだばかりの若き五右衛門は宿場一体を仕切るために八州取締役に取り入ろうとしていた。大勝ちした市を撫然とした五右衛門一家が取り囲むが、女親分のおはんが取りなした。帰り道で市は刺客に襲われるが、得意な居合い斬りで片づけた。市は旅先で絵を描く浪人と知り合い、色を教えてもらった。その間も五右衛門一家の刺客が襲いかかるが、市の居合い斬りの前には歯が立たない。八州取締役は赤兵衛に五右衛門と対抗するために銃を買うことを勧めた。しかし、赤兵衛は五右衛門と八州が通じていることを知っており、市を用心棒に顧った。一方五右衛門は浪人を新しい用心棒に顧っていた。赤兵衛の宿場で八州は薄幸の少女おうめを手込めにしようとするが、市に斬られた。浪人は湯治場で一度市を見逃すが、五右衛門一家はついに赤兵衛一家を襲う。壮絶な斬り合いの末、赤兵衛は五右衛門の前に倒れた。その時坂の上から早桶が転ってきて、中から現われたのは八州の首を持った市だった。そして市は数十人の五右衛門一家の子分を絶滅させ、最後に五右衛門と浪人も倒すのだった。

With the addition of stylish props such as Koichi's room, his friend's car, and the breakwater in Kujira-cho, a bit of whimsical dialogue, and background music that shows a thorough attention to music selection, the film is a road movie with an experiential beat.
Lewd, long-haired karate kid Kotaro Shindo spends his days causing amok at the prestigious Tsurugamine Academy, until the Disciplinary Committee decides enough is enough, and puts a bounty on his luscious locks. Meanwhile other sinister forces are working in the shadows to put Kotaro to use for their own ends.
