Gary A. Trousdale (born June 8, 1960) is an American film director known for directing movies such as Beauty and the Beast, The Hunchback of Notre Dame and Atlantis: The Lost Empire. He frequently directs films with Kirk Wise.
Trousdale planned to become an architect, but decided instead to study animation at CalArts, where he studied for three years. He was hired in 1982 to design storyboards and do other animation. He then went to work designing restaurant menus and t-shirts.
Trousdale was hired by Walt Disney Feature Animation in 1985 as an effects animator on The Black Cauldron. He gained true prominence in his field with the success of his animated film directorial debut Beauty and the Beast, which was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Picture and won a LAFCA Award. He later directed The Hunchback of Notre Dame in 1996. In 2001 he directed Atlantis: The Lost Empire.
He moved to DreamWorks Animation in 2003, where he worked on projects such as The Madagascar Penguins in a Christmas Caper, Shrek the Halls and more recently Scared Shrekless.

Trudie Styler, a documentarian, had been allowed to film the production of Kingdom of the Sun/The Emperor's New Groove as part of the deal that originally brought her husband Sting to the project. As a result, Styler recorded on film much of the struggle, controversy, and troubles that went into making the picture (including the moment when producer Fullmer called Sting to inform the pop star that his songs were being deleted from the film). Styler's completed documentary, The Sweatbox, premiered at the Toronto Film Festival on September 13, 2002. Disney owns the rights to the documentary and has not released it on home video or DVD.

When Kris tells Sam Weatherfield, the inventor, about breaking his parent’s window and running away, Sam has Kris play a strange, colorful game called HOOMANIA. As Kris places his piece on the board, he is zapped INSIDE the game, full of life-sized animated characters like the daffy Dodo Bird or the goodie-gobbling sluggards. These crazy creatures, and others, either help or hinder Kris in his race to Mount Wisdom. Through his fantastic adventure, Kris learns the true meaning of “wisdom”.
