A mysterious darkness has swallowed the earth. While running from blood-thirsty creatures, a group of six strangers are mysteriously drawn to an old movie theatre. Thinking themselves safe, they attempt to come to grips with the chaos happening to the world outside. But little do they know that something far worse resides within the walls of the theatre... ...pure evil.

When a local acting company decides to stage an updated version of an Egyptian ritual involving human sacrifice they inadvertently unleash a dark and evil force. A vengeful and gorgeous satanic priestess uses the unsuspecting acting troupe to recall the spirit of a fanatical cult leader who led his people to mass suicide. Suddenly the play becomes too real as the actors begin disappearing one by one and turning up again dead. Can one of them stop the hideous killings before they all become the victims of The Ritual of Death?

1978년 어느 한산한 도로에 차 한대가 지나친다. 부랑자가 차를 태워달라고 요구하자 차에 탄 중년의 남자는 험한 동네라 태워줄 수 없다고 한다. 부랑자는 킨타 퍼니라는 연쇄살인마 때문이냐고 묻자 중년 남자는 '그에 대해 들어본 적이 없다'라고 대답하고 차를 타고 떠난다. 그러다가 다시 후진하더니 갑자기 부랑자를 향해 질주한다. 쾅! 이 남자가 바로 연쇄살인마였던 것. 그는 사신의 지시대로 죽을 때까지 계속 살인을 저질렀고 결국 가스실에서 최후를 맞는다. 그리고 현재, 살인마를 잡아 영웅대접을 받은 보안관은 주유소에서 아들(역시 보안관)과 식사를 하다 카지노 강도들과 마주치고 그 와중에 가스실에 처형되었던 리커까지 나타난다.

눈을 떠보니 자신이 관 속에 누워있는 것을 알고 경악하는 한 여성. 그녀는 머리에 부상을 입고 기억을 잃어버렸다. 그리고 자신을 구해 주려다 살인마에게 죽임을 당하는 노인을 보고 도망쳐 간신히 탈출해서 보게 된 주변은 참혹 그 자체다. 도망을 치던 중 만나게 된 터커라는 남자가 그녀를 도와서 그의 집에 머물기로 한다. 그러나 마스크 살인마가 찾아와 터커의 아내마저 죽이는데...

A news crew goes into an Indonesian cult to report the goings-on. It is alluded to that the "father" or founder of the cult sleeps with the children to "purify" them. The interviewer hears a conversation between his fiancée and his best friend, both of whom are crew members, and finds out that she's pregnant with his best friend's baby.

1980년대 엉청나게 쏟아져 나왔던 슬래셔 무비중 하나로 당시 꽤 인기가 있었는지 무려 4편까지 제작이 되었다. 캠프에서 벌어지는 살인마의 살육이 주요내용으로 하이틴 에로(?) 공포영화라 할 수 있다. 아마도 그때 나왔던 대부분의 슬래셔 무비들이 이런 구성을 띄고 있을 것이다. 영화 시작부터 살인마가 누구인지 보여줌으로써 관객들이 머리 아프게 누가 범인일까 추리해야할 수고를 덜어 주고 있다. 단순히 앞으로 어떤 도구에 의해서 얼마나 처참하게 죽어나갈지, 어떤 여배우가 윗도리를 벗고 자신의 가슴을 보여줄지 기대하며 영화를 관람하면 되는것이다. 후자는 어느정도 성공한 것 같다. 너무도 쉽게 시도때도 없이, 자랑이라도 하듯 화면 가득 가슴을 보여준다. 하지만 전자는 그런 기대를 저버린다. 드릴, 전기톱, 기타줄, 푸세식 화장실 등 여러가지 살인 도구들을 사용하지만 상당히 어설프고, 전혀 무섭게 느껴지지가 않는다. 슬래셔 무비라 할 수 있지만 끔찍한 살육 같은건 없다. 그저 정신나간 여자가 사람들을 어설프게 죽이는게 전부이며 마지막의 널부러져 있는 시체들이 전부이다. 물론 이 시체들도 상당히 허접하다. 정말 슬래셔 무비라면 확실히 끔찍하게 살육하는 장면을 더더욱 많이 담았어야 할 것 같다.

도시전역에 기괴한 전염병이 돌기 시작하더니 사람들이 하나둘 죽어간다. 더구나 죽은 시체들은 육체가 다시 살아나 가족, 애인 심지어 자식까지 잡아먹는 끔찍한 일이 여기저기서 벌어진다. 죽어도 육체만 살아나 떠다니며 사람을 식육한다는 좀비들이 도시를 온통 대혼란에 빠뜨린 것이다. 홀더박사팀과 여자, 군인 몇 명만이 도시에서 탈출한다. 이들은 전염병해독제를 개발하고, 감염지역에 소독을 한다. 곧이어 희생자를 위한 특별구급대가 형성된다. 도시에는 비상경계령이 내려지고, 군당국이 관할하는데 모든 시민들의 출입을 금지시킨다. 궁당국은 좀비들이 곧 소탕되어 정상회복은 시간문제라지만 희생자는 늘어만 간다.
