많은 고아를 수용하고 있는 Bodhi 수용소. 고아들은 노역과 군사훈련의 성격을 띤 고된 훈련에 시달리고 있다. 고된 노역 대가로 배급주는 한 모금의 물. 이로 인해서 B0dhi내의고아들간에 파벌이 생긴다. 어느날 집단 패사움을 벌인 이들은 지배 자의감시단에 걸려든다. 생존을 위해 도망가던중에 이들은 우주에서 흘러들어온 구 형의 발광체를 발견하지만 도난당하고 만다. 원형 발광체를찾기 위하여 Crock과 Terra일행은 B0dhi를 되찾기 위해 지배집단의본부로 잠입해 들어간 이들 아웃 사이더 들은 원형 발광체를 그들손에 넣고물도 마음대로 먹을 수 있게 된다.

이 영화는 바티스타 정권의 몰락 전후 시기의 열광적 정치 이데올로기를 통해 여러 다양한 쿠바의 모습을 스펙타클하게 보여준다. 정치적으로 지지하는 입장에서 수탈의 섬, 쿠바에서 고통스러운 삶을 이어가는 가난한 사람들을 위해 싸우는 영웅 카스트로를 묘사한다. 영화 후반부에서는 혁명에 능동적으로 참여하는 개인들의 삶을 점점 더 깊이 탐구해 나간다. 특히, 한 부패경찰 간부를 암살하려는 어느 청년학생 엔리케와 다양한 정치계급의 삶의 모습을 포착해 나간다.
