시놉시스
옛 친구 J.J.의 장례식에 참석하기 위해 인디언 보호구역에 온 라이더는 J.J.의 죽음이 인디언 보호구역에 카지노를 설립하려는 존 리노 일당들에 의해 살해당했다는 사실을 알게 된다. 라이더는 우연히 불량배들에게 당하고 있는 빌리를 도와주고, 빌리는 리노의 일당들에게 습격을 받아 J.J. 집으로 피신하지만, 그들은 J.J. 집까지 쳐들어온다. 정의를 위해 라이더는 리노와 그 일당들에게 맞서 전쟁을 벌인다.
감옥에 갇힌 친구를 구하려다 오히려 쫓기게 되는 카우보이를 소재로 만든 영화. 결국은 추격자의 총탄에 쓰러지는 한 카우보이의 이야기가 사라져가는 서부 시대의 희생자로 그려지고 있다. 서부 영화 치고는 자동차와 헬리콥터가 등장하는 이색적인 화면이 쫓기는 외로운 한 카우보이의 뒷모습에 쓸쓸하게 투영이 되어 저물어가는 서부 시대의 애환을 더 더욱 애처롭게 묘사하고 있는 수작이다.
Set in a post-nuclear-holocaust future, this sci-fi western takes place in the frontier city of New Hope, the only place around with a working oil refinery. Ever since a megalomaniac general and his followers took over the place, life has been miserable. Then a stranger, a man-of-few-words, comes to town. A quick-drawing gunslinger, he first joins the conquerors. As time passes, however, it rapidly becomes apparent that he really sides with the townsfolk, and when the time is right, he leads them into a violent uprising.

Faced with an obvious cover-up and opposition on every hand, sheriff Ben Sadler is goaded into investigating. His unlikely ally: Renchler's lovely, self-willed and overprotected daughter. Will Ben survive Renchler's wrath?
