소심한 시드니(제리 루이스)는 어느 날 쓰레기를 버리러 나갔다가 불량청소년들의 패싸움에 말려들게 된다. 경찰서에까지 끌려가게 된 시드니는 다행히 풀려나지만 경찰인 마이크(다렌 맥거빈)는 그를 요주의인물로 생각한다. 마이크는 시드니의 집에 찾아와 범죄의 손에서 벗어나 정상적인 삶을 살 것을 역설한다. 그러면서 시드니에게 경찰관이 되는 것이 어떻겠냐고 권유한다.
Francis Ryan, living high-and-free-wheeling life as the wife of gangster "Smiley" Ryan, spends some time behind bars as a result of her husband's activities, and, when she gets out, realizes she has been a bad example for her kid-sister, Jennie White, and five of her friends. Des is an eleven year old kid who has had a really bad deal in life. Crime and mischief are the main staples of his life and he and his friends cruise around the city and do things like vandalize, steal, light fires, and mug people. He thinks that he is untouchable because he cannot be charged until he is twelve. Cory becomes Des' best friend and they carry on like nothing can stop them; however, Des ends up at an assessment centre for troubled youths and may begin a new life without crime.
