People living on an island finds a treasure, but it does not only do them good.

A young woman, Junta, lives apart from her village and, for her solitude and strangeness, is considered to be a witch; when she comes to the village for one reason or another, the townsfolk chase her away. They feel that she may in some way be responsible for the deaths of several young men of the village, who have felt compelled, one by one, to climb the local mountain - and fall to their deaths - on nights when the moon is full.

Winter comes, and the grasshopper, near starvation, stumbles across the ants, who are having a full-on feast in their snug little tree. They take him in and warm him up. As a surprise, two horse owners decide to ride their animals themselves in a steeplechase. But Bill Davidson's horse "Admiral" behaves weirdly, and falls hard after an obstacle. Bill dies from his injuries. His friend Alan York suspects the animal was doped by unscrupulous bookies and starts to investigate. He doesn't know how serious his opponents are, and that he's in danger to suffer the exact same fate as his friend.

The earliest surviving celluloid film, and believed second moving picture ever created, was shot by Louis Aimé Augustin Le Prince using the LPCCP Type-1 MkII single-lens camera. It was taken in the garden of Oakwood Grange, the Whitley family house in Roundhay, Leeds, West Riding of Yorkshire (UK), possibly on 14 October 1888. It shows Adolphe Le Prince (Le Prince's son), Mrs. Sarah Whitley (Le Prince's mother-in-law), Joseph Whitley and Miss Harriet Hartley walking around in circles, laughing to themselves and keeping within the area framed by the camera. The Roundhay Garden Scene was recorded at 12 frames per second and runs for 2.11 seconds.

Janssen, or Pierre Jules César Janssen, invented the Photographic Revolver, which captured a series of images in a row. The device, automatic, produced images in a row without human intervention, being used to serve as photographic evidence of the passage of Venus before the Sun, in 1874.

Working men and women leave through the main gate of the Lumière factory in Lyon, France. Filmed on 22 March 1895, it is often referred to as the first real motion picture ever made, although Louis Le Prince's 1888 Roundhay Garden Scene pre-dated it by seven years. Three separate versions of this film exist, which differ from one another in numerous ways. The first version features a carriage drawn by one horse, while in the second version the carriage is drawn by two horses, and there is no carriage at all in the third version. The clothing style is also different between the three versions, demonstrating the different seasons in which each was filmed. This film was made in the 35 mm format with an aspect ratio of 1.33:1, and at a speed of 16 frames per second. At that rate, the 17 meters of film length provided a duration of 46 seconds, holding a total of 800 frames.

The last remaining production of Le Prince's LPCC Type-16 (16-lens camera) is part of a gelatine film shot in 32 images/second, and pictures a man walking around a corner. Le Prince, who was in Leeds (UK) at that time, sent these images to his wife in New York City in a letter dated 18 August 1887.

Likely in June 1897, a group of people are standing along the platform of a railway station in La Ciotat, waiting for a train. One is seen coming, at some distance, and eventually stops at the platform. Doors of the railway-cars open and attendants help passengers off and on. Popular legend has it that, when this film was shown, the first-night audience fled the café in terror, fearing being run over by the "approaching" train. This legend has since been identified as promotional embellishment, though there is evidence to suggest that people were astounded at the capabilities of the Lumières' cinématographe.

The last remaining film of Le Prince's LPCCP Type-1 MkII single-lens camera is a sequence of frames of his son, Adolphe Le Prince, playing a diatonic button accordion. It was recorded on the steps of the house of Joseph Whitley, Adolphe's grandfather.

The story follows a drug dealer who is exposed to many problems after he becomes accused of murder, which drives him to try to prove his innocence and repent.

One night, Arlequin comes to see his lover Colombine. But then Pierrot knocks at the door and Colombine and Arlequin hide. Pierrot starts singing but Arlequin scares him and the poor man goes away.

남북전쟁이 끝난 후 남아도는 대포를 처리하는 방법을 연구하다가 큰 대포를 만들어 안에다가 사람을 태운 우주선을 집어 넣고 달로 쏘아 올리기로 결정한다. 사람들에게 환송을 받으며 천문학자를 태운 로켓이 대포로 발사되고 곧 로켓은 달에 착륙한다. 천문학자는 달에 도착하자마자 잠을 자고, 일어나고 나서 동굴로 가자 거대한 버섯을 발견한다. 한 천문학자가 우산을 펼치자 곧바로 버섯으로 변해 버린다. 이때 외계인이 나타나지만 천문학자는 이를 쉽게 죽인다. 곧 더 많은 외계인이 나타나서 천문학자들은 둘러싸이게 되고, 외계인은 그들을 잡아 우두머리에게 데리고 간다. 천문학자들이 우두머리를 죽이고 도망친다. 다섯 명이 비행선 안으로 들어가고 나머지 한 명은 절벽에 걸친 비행선에 달린 로프에 매달려 비행선을 우주로 떨어뜨린다. 우주선은 지구로 떨어져 바다에 빠진다. 천문학자들은 구조되어 큰 환대를 받는다.

노신부 메린(막스 본 시도우 분)은 이라크 북부에서 고분을 발굴하다 이상한 조각을 발견한다. 악마를 상징하는 그 조각에 노신부는 불안해 한다. 한편, 미국 조지타운에 사는 인기 여배우 크리스 멕네일(엘런 번스타인 )는 어느 날 밤 딸 레건(린다 블레어)의 방에서 이상한 소리를 듣고 쥐가 있는 것 같다며 운전 기사 칼(루돌프 쉰들러)에게 쥐덫을 놓도록 한다. 이어 딸 레건에게서 이상한 증세가 나타나기 시작하자 크리스는 레건을 데리고 병원을 전전하지만 병명조차 알아내지 못한 채 증세는 점점 악화된다. 그 와중에 크리스의 애인이 레건을 간호하던 중 변사체로 발견되는가 하면 조그맣고 귀엽던 레건의 얼굴이 무섭고 흉측한 악령의 모습으로 변하며 "그리스도가 나를 범하고 있다"라고 외치며 자해를 하는 사건이 연이어 벌어진다. 크리스는 지푸라기라도 잡는 심정으로 젊은 카라스 신부(제이슨 밀러)를 찾아가 악마를 내쫓는 엑소시즘 의식을 부탁한다. 결국 카라스 신부는 엑소시즘의 경험이 있는 노신부 메린에게 도움을 청하고 둘은 레건에게서 악령을 몰아내는 의식을 집행하기에 이른다. 그러나 악령은 쉽게 물러나지 않고, 악마와 메린 신부의 처절한 사투가 시작되는데…
