Black Thursday (1974)

나치 점령기의 프랑스, 레지스탕스 대장인 필립 제르비에는 동료의 배신으로 체포되어 포로 수용소로 보내진다. 가까스로 탈출한 필립은 마르세유에서 펠릭스, 르 비종 등의 동료들과 합류하여 자신을 밀고한 배신자를 처형한다. 레지스탕스 활동을 계속하던 중 필립과 동료 뤽은 런던에서 드골 장군을 만나 훈장을 받는다. 리용에서 펠릭스가 체포되자 프랑스로 돌아온 필립은 동지들과 함께 펠릭스 구출작전을 벌인다. 하지만 철통같은 경비의 감옥에 접근하기는 쉽지 않은데...

세계대전 중인 1940년. 카리브해 작은 섬 마르티니크는 나치에 동조하는 정부와 프랑스 레지스탕스의 싸움으로 조용할 날이 없다. 그러나 미국인 해리 모건 선장은 오로지 사람들에게 배를 빌려주고 돈을 받는 일에만 관심있을 뿐 전쟁에 대해서는 중립을 지킨다. 그러나 “성냥 있어요?”라는 말로 시작된 젊은 미국 여성 마리와의 인연으로 모든 것은 달라진다. 그녀에게 호감을 갖게 된 모건이 그녀를 안전하게 고향으로 돌려보내기 위한 자금 마련을 위해 프랑스 레지스탕스 리더를 돕기로 한 것이다.

1944년 8월 연합군의 노르망디 상륙작전 이후 퇴각을 하게 된 독일군은 파리의 한 박물관에 수집, 보관되어 있던 프랑스의 국보급 미술품을 발트하임 대령의 지휘 아래 독일로 이전하기 위한 작업을 한다. 철도원으로서 레지스탕스에 몸담고 있는 철도원 라비쉬는 동료들과는 달리 미술품의 보호에 대해 부정적인 견해를 지니고 있었다. 이미 철도원들에는 기차에 실린 물건이 무엇인지 공공연히 알려진 상태에서 비조직적인 저지가 이루어진다. 파리의 베어 역을 출발한 기차는 한 구간을 달려 라인강역에 도착하여 오일관 고장으로 멈춰 서게 된다. 고의로 기차의 오일관에 손상을 주어 기차를 파손한 빠빠부는 독일군 장교 헤른 소령에게 이 사실이 들통이 나면서 현장에서 사형이 집행이 되고 이를 저지하던 라비쉬는 기차의 수리와 운행을 강요받게 된다. 본 발트하임 대령은 라비쉬로 하여금 독일국경 근처의 역인 세인트 어폴트 역까지 운행할 것을 명령하는데...

독일의 프랑스 점령기간 동안 우편물 수송에서 파업에 이르기까지 철도 노동자들의 참여와 1944년 6월 노르망디 상륙 작전 때 항독 지하 운동가들에게 중요한 지원을 하게 된 노동자들의 투쟁을 그린 연대기이다. 전쟁 종식 후 전문 배우가 아닌 실제 노동자들이 출연한 영화로 종전 후 클래식 영화의 진수로 꼽히고 있으며, 프랑스의 해방을 위해 투쟁한 모든 익명의 투쟁자들에게 경의를 표하는 영화라고 할 수 있다. 이 영화는 1940~ 1944년 독일 점령기에 반대하며 궐기했던 샬론 쉬르 사온 지역의 한 철도원에 대한 이야기이다. 전반부는 다큐멘터리 형식으로 철도 비밀 전쟁을 다루며, 나치스 당원들이 레지스탕스들을 처형하는 것으로 끝난다. 후반부는 납치와 상륙작전 당시 독일 압펠켄 호송 방해 사건을 재구성한다.

Line of Demarcation. is a 1966 film written and directed by Claude Chabrol. Its title in French is La Ligne de démarcation. It is based on upon the memoir Mémoires d'un agent secret de la France libre et La Ligne de démarcation by Gilbert Renault under his pseudonym Colonel Rémy. A small village in the Jura is split by the river Loue which creates the line of demarcation between Nazi occupied France and freedom. A French officer, Pierre (Ronet), is released by the Nazi soldiers to find his chateau converted into a German command centre. Whilst he is obliged to co-operate with the enemy, his wife Mary (Seberg) supports the resistance movement and is willing to risk her life for it. The Nazis step up their activity against the resistance, insisting that any who attempt to cross the line of demarcation will be shot. When his wife is arrested, Pierre decides to switch his allegiance.

In this comedy, set during the Nazi occupation of France, Peter Sellers plays most major male parts, so he stars in nearly every scene, always bumbling in inspector Clouseau-style.
