캐나다에서 온 여의사 클로이는 낮에는 팔레스타인 난민캠프 임시 진료소에서 일하고, 밤에는 예루살렘의 아파트에서 생활한다. 같은 아파트에 사는 이스라엘 여군인 에바와는 절친한 사이다. 매일 검문소를 지나면서, 임시 진료소 환자인 랑드와 친구가 된 클로이는 랑드의 가족들과도 많은 시간을 보낸다. 우연한 기회에 전쟁의 비인간성과 참상을 보고, 두 나라 친구들에게 도움이 되고자 최선을 다하지만 랑드와 에바에게 클로이는 그저 이방인일 뿐이다. 클로이는 이 모든걸 건 위험한 결심을 하면서, 비극적인 사건속으로 휘말리게 된다.

이스라엘에 살고 있는 팔레스타인 청년 ‘나이머’는 더 나은 삶을 위해서 해외로 나가는 것을 꿈꾸는 학생이다. 어느 날 게이클럽에서 그는 이스라엘 청년 ‘로이’를 운명적으로 만나고, 그와 사랑에 빠진다. 둘의 관계가 깊어질수록, ‘나이머’는 그의 성정체성을 거부하는 팔레스타인 사회와 팔레스타인인 그의 국적을 배척하는 이스라엘 사회의 냉혹한 현실을 실감한다. 그는 자신의 가장 가까운 친구중 하나가 텔아비브(이스라엘 수도)에 불법체류를 하다 발각되어 웨스트뱅크 쪽으로 강제추방이 되고, 동성애자라는 이유로 잔혹하게 살해가 되는 것을 목격한다. 이러한 여러 위기를 겪으면서 ‘나이머’는 자신이 꿈꿨던 해외에 나가서 사는 삶을 살지, 로이와 함께 이스라엘에 남을지 선택을 해야하는 상황을 맞이한다.

Goldberg traveled to Israel to interview Palestinian and Israeli kids ages 11 to 13, assembling their views on living in a society afflicted with violence, separatism and religious and political extremism. This 2002 Oscar nominee for Best Feature Documentary culminates in an astonishing day in which two Israeli children meet Palestinian youngsters at a refugee camp.

크게 지옥, 연옥, 천국의 세 부분으로 나뉘어져 있다. 첫번째 지옥 부분은 베트남, 크림반도, 중동, 제 2차 세계대전 등 전쟁의 여러 가지 이미지들을 조합한 화면으로 이루어져 있다. 연옥 부분은 포화로 무너진 현재의 사라예보를 보여준다. 모스타 다리 건설현장을 방문해서 보여주는 화면은 그 자체가 죄에서 용서로의 점진적 발전을 상징적으로 보여주고 있다. 천국 부분에서는 연옥 부분에서 등장했던 한 여자가 다시 등장해, 미 해군병들이 보초를 서고 있는 작은 해안가에서 평화를 찾는 모습을 보여준다.

레바논의 베이루트 항구에 도착한 제이나는 한 달 넘게 이스라엘의 폭격을 받은 남부로 가려하지만 누구도 도와주겠다는 사람이 없다. 그 때 택시 기사, 토니가 접근해 300달러라는 큰돈을 요구하지만 다급한 제이나는 토니의 택시를 타기로 한다. 사실 제이나는 두바이에서 이혼 소송 중인데 여름 동안 여섯 살 난 아들 카림을 레바논에 사는 언니, 마하의 집에 맡겼던 것이다. 차창 밖으로는 잔혹한 폭격의 증거가 펼쳐지고 두 사람은 난민 수용소를 찾아다니며 카림과 마하를 찾는다. 하지만 수용소와 거리에서 만난 사람들이 들려주는 증언은 제니아를 더욱 불안하게 만든다. 간신히 언니의 집에 도착한 제니아는 언니는 폭격으로 죽었지만 카림은 프랑스인 기자가 데려갔다는 말을 듣고 아들을 찾기 위해 티레로 향한다. 하지만 모든 것이 폐허가 된 레바논에서는 차에 기름 넣는 것도 쉽지 않고 두 사람의 여정은 고난이 계속 된다. 온갖 우역곡절을 넘어 카림이 있다는 수도원으로 향하는 두 사람. 과연 이들은 제니아의 아들 카림을 찾을 수 있을 것인가...

Razi recruited Sanfur when he was just 15, and developed a very close, almost fatherly relationship to him. Now 17, Sanfur tries to navigate between Razi’s demands and his loyalty to his brother, living a double life and lying to both men. Co-written by director Yuval Adler and Ali Waked—an Arab journalist who spent years in the West Bank—Bethlehem gives an unparalleled, moving and authentic portrait of the complex reality behind the news.

Ever since 17-year-old Rachel Levy, an Israeli, was killed four years ago in Jerusalem by a Palestinian suicide bomber, her mother Abigail has found hardly a moment's peace. Prominent Columbia University English and Comparative Literature professor Edward Said was well known in the United States for his tireless efforts to convey the plight of the Palestinian people, and in this film shot less than a year before his death resulting from incurable leukemia, the author of such books as {-Orientalism}, {-Culture and Imperialism}, and {-Power, Politics, and Culture} discusses with filmmakers his illness, his life, his education, and the continuing turmoil in Palestine. Diagnosed with the disease in 1991, Said struggled with his leukemia throughout the 1990s before refraining from interviews due to his increasingly fragile physical state. This interview was the one sole exception to his staunch "no interview" policy, and provides fascinating insight into the mind of the man who became Western society's most prominent spokesman for the Palestinian cause.
