A child is born. We see underwater swimmers representing this. He is young, in a jungle setting, with two fanciful "instincts" guiding him as swooping bird-like acrobats initially menace, then delight. As an adolescent, he enters a desert, where a man spins a large cube of metal tubing. He leaves his instinct-guides behind, and enters a garden where two statues dance in a pond. As he watches their sensual acrobatics of love, he becomes a man. He is offered wealth (represented by a golden hat) by a devil figure. In a richly decorated room, a scruffy troupe of a dozen acrobats and a little girl reawaken the old man's youthful nature and love.

Once upon a time, a King had eleven sons and one daughter. When his wife, the Queen, died, the King remarried. The new wife and the children's stepmother looks beautiful on the outside, but actually she's an evil witch. She sends the young princess Eliise to live in the village as an ordinary peasant girl and turns all the princes into wild swans. The princes are stuck being swans all day long and only at night can they regain their true form. On the way, the girl will have many obstacles before the decisive battle with the Snow Queen. But Gerda’s faithful heart will overcome all adversity...

한 집에서 살고 있는 대학원생 주드, 피트, 폴리, 마크, 루크는 일요일마다 손님을 초대해 토론하며 저녁식사를 같이 한다. 어느 날, 피트를 집까지 데려다 준 잭과 저녁식사를 하게 되는데, 나치 신봉자인 잭의 얘기로 인해 이들 모두는 흥분하게 되고, 저녁식사 자리는 순식간에 험악한 분위기에 휩싸이게 된다. 그러던 중 잭이 피트의 팔을 부러뜨리고 흥분한 마크는 잭을 칼로 찔러 죽인다. 그 일이 있은 후, 이들은 자신들이 잭의 말대로 늘 말만 많은 겁쟁이란 생각을 하게 되고 세상을 위해 뭔가 행동을 취하기로 결심한다. 그리고 위험한 생각을 가진 자들을 한 명씩 자신들의 설득에 넘어가지 않으면 독살하는데.

용병들이 거대한 검은 뱀과의 전투를 벌이는 장면으로 막을 연 영화는 제약 회사 회장인 머독이 동유럽에 있는 자신의 비밀 연구소를 찾는 장면으로 이어진다. 등장 인물은 2편과 직접 이어지지는 않지만, 혈난초와 뱀이라는 소재를 이어가는 속편이다. 혈난초에서 생명 연장을 위한 물질을 찾아냈지만, 뱀을 제외한 다른 동물들은 독성을 버텨내지 못했고, 연구진들은 어떤 물질이 그 차이를 내는지 알아내려 한다.
