현상금 걸린 범인을 잡는 일이 직업인 져지 벨리니는 헤어진 옛 애인이면서 역시 져지와 같은 직업의 라이벌인 비비 베니스타가 탈옥한 자동차 도둑 이지 신더맨을 잡아 1만 달러의 현상금을 받으려 하는 것을 알고 그녀를 방해하기로 마음먹는다. 비비가 신더맨의 단골식당에 잠복하고 있다가 막 신더맨을 잡으려는 순간, 역시 잠복하고 있던 거지는 1만 달러의 현상금이 걸려있는 신더맨을 비비의 눈앞에서 가로챈다. 부하 두명을 데리고 져지를 뒤쫓는 비비. 현상금을 타러가려는 져지의 차를 습격, 옆자리에 올라탄 비비는 져지와 말다툼을 벌이고 그 사이 신더맨은 탈출해버린다. 사랑 싸움 때문에 졸지에 1만불짜리 악당을 놓쳐버린 두 연인에게 남은 건 신더맨이 암흑가 두목 에머리 데이모스에게서 훔친 푸른색의 롤스로이스 뿐이다. 그러나 비비와 져지는 주인 잃은 차를 살펴보다가 뜻밖에도 트렁크 속에서 꽁꽁 묶인 젊은 여자를 발견 한다. '스타'라는 이름의 이 여자는 원래 데이모스 처소에서 우연히 살인장면을 목격하자 증거 인멸을 위해 데이모스의 부하들에게 꽁꽁 묶인 채 트렁크에 실려 죽음을 당하러 가는 길이었던 것이다. 한편, 데이모스에게 붙잡힌 신더맨은 문제의 자동차를 져지와 비비가 가지고 있다고 틸어놓는다. 두목의 살인을 목격한 스타를 찾기 위해 져지와 비비를 찾아나선 데이모스의 부하들. 그러나 이런 사실을 모르는 져지는 자신의 집에서 친한 이웃집의 열두살 짜리 소년 위드와 함께 놀고 있다. 그러나 위드가 집에 가기 위해 져지의 집을 나서자 악당들은 기다렸다는 듯 위드를 납치한다. 비비는 집에 쳐들어온 악당들을 멋지게 해치우고 져지에게 달려가고 져지의 집에서는 침입자를 혼내주기 위한 여러가지 장치들에 악당들이 당하고 있다. 그러나 비비와 져지가 아무리 악당들을 물리쳐도 소용이 없다. 왜냐하면 데이모스는 위드를 인질로 데리고 있기 때문이다. 데이모스는 져지에게 24시간의 여유를 주고 스타를 내놓으라고 협박한다. 져지와 비비는 딜레마에 빠지는데.
